Midair - Are we all on board?
« on: December 09, 2017, 12:12:21 AM »

(Preview above doesn't seem to be working, here's the direct link)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoQp7Tbss7c

I put this highlights video together of a recent tournament final (game still in closed beta), and I hope that if you weren't interested before that this video might help pique your interest :)

Please feel free to leave me any feedback - I'm pretty new to After Effects and Premiere so there's certainly lots I could've done better.. but I learned a lot and will hopefully only serve to make the next one even better.

I'll try it. More than that, I don't know. It'll probably have a lot of people once it's open.
Nice editing, though.

Lead devs fav game was T2 so don't be surprised if it gets added in the future.

They've just added T2-esque missile launcher & flares.

I think you've done a very good job at editing, so nice video man. Though, I'll stick with T2. You know the saying, don't fix what ain't broke.

anyone still playing t2?  i thought it was done... no1 was on in like 2 weeks.  i need something to do besides releasing models on thingiverse.

mid-air should have been a clean, reliable, modern, platform open to modders and admins, allowing them to balance the game as they see fit.

ss far as gameplay mechanics go, I'm not too much into it. After playing around with MidAir a little, I started up T:V and the movement felt almost exact. But I get why they did it, feels more 'realistic'. Weapons and all are still being added but so far it's got most of what T2 has. By itself MidAir is good, but because of my connection the ping is through the roof (600+), so even when I want to play I can't. Overall I still like T2 more for now.

Midair goes F2P tomorrow. It's almost time to see what will happen to the genre.

Edit: Unlocking things reverts after quitting, without refunding any points, which means there's no reason to play right now. Also, I don't think the sounds aren't very good. Very little impact.

Unlocks got fixed, but the solution was hidden away and not promoted well.
Now that I actually have a grenade launcher and an energy pack, it's not so bad. I'm enjoying it. However, vehicles are a complete pain to pilot and are forced 3rd person. Ascend also had this problem, and it baffles me. Tanks are also hilariously bugged and will fly through the air and all over the place, they hover a bit too much and will take off.

i gave it a chance today... still rocking my khakis w/ a cuff and a crease... still not loving police.

its hard to imagine worse graphics than t2 17 years later.  the players all seem weird... like bort and eliza from across the tracks.

I wish Archetype success with their game and I have no problems with anyone who enjoys Midair, but I am not on board. Whoever dislikes Midair is free to not play it and play the older Tribes games instead. People don't have to trash the game or force suggestions on Archetype's site because it's their game and their decisions. The only valid complaints are the one from backers who were not delivered what Archetype promised, or us who are discussing Midair on a different site.

All I see in Midair already exists in Tribes 2 Classic. Plus, T2 has more features and content, especially community content, and is a more polished game with a distinct look and feel. The good artstyle makes T2 look good despite it being ugly by today's graphic standards. It has "powerful/crunchy" sounds, and the soundtrack and voices are way better. And what was broken in Base, from a T1 player's perspective, was fixed in Classic.

The funny thing is that T1 players think that T2 players are loving this, and Midair is a game catered for T2 players.

Just wanna say... I don't play Midair or Ascend. If you see anyone with my name there, it's not me. After all, Jesus is the most un-unique name, lol.
